Your soccer club wants to run a Tournament we can help!

This post is for any US Club, US Youth Soccer, Futsal, or any Soccer Club that is interested in running a Tournament.

Running a Soccer Tournament with your soccer club can be a great way to gain awareness about your club, provide a great opportunity for your teams and the teams in the area to play in a local event as well a great fundraising opportunity.

Many clubs already run their own Tournament and many others would like to get started or could use some assistance keeping their event going or getting it off the ground.

I want to provide a few insights and solutions to help you and your club determine if now is a good time to start running your own Tournament or if partnering with an event management company like Warrior Soccer would be more beneficial.

Running your own event will enable you to keep 100% of the Tournament profits but will also give you and your board a lot of extra work. Here is a quick list of 20 important to-do’s to get your Tournament off the ground and running.

Tournament operations

  1. Determine what type of event you want to run. (What does your area need more of) 3v3/5v5/7v7 or Full-sided
  2. Find a good date for the Tournament
  3. Secure fields and determine how many you will need.
  4. Create the registration link (we use www.exposureevents.com) they only charge $2 per team and you can create divisions, schedules, and scoring the games.
  5. Create marketing materials
  6. Post the event Info on the website, FB and Instagram
  7. Secure a ref assignor for the event
  8. Ensure the fields have enough parking and restrooms
  9. Sanction event with State association
  10. Secure food trucks and any other entertainment for the event.
  11. Order banners/field signs
  12. Keep marketing (A good rule of thumb is 1-2 email/social posts per week leading up to the event.)
  13. After the deadline, you will need to bracket
  14. Schedule
  15. Communicate with the teams (the more the better)
  16. Order medals
  17. Set up the fields/goals
  18. Run check-in
  19. The tournament director, staff, and field marshals run the event
  20. Post Tournament report and recap
